Art

We stimulate children’s creativity and imagination by providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a unique way of understanding and responding to the world.

Children respond to the work of artists, craftspeople and designers and they consider the functions of art, craft and design in their own lives and in different times and cultures.

Design Technology (DT)

Cooking

Design Technology is an inspiring and practical subject. Pupils use creativity and their imagination to design and make items that solve real and relevant problems, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

Pupils learn how to be innovative, resourceful and enterprising.

We are very lucky to have a dedicated technology room where we can also learn important cooking skills.

History

We inspire children’s interest in the past, both in Britain and the wider world, as well as creating a chronological framework for their knowledge of significant events and people. Children are encouraged to think about how the past influences the present and to foster a sense of identity.

Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education

PSHCE education is a central part of our curriculum as it enables our children to build healthy friendships and relationships, helping to keep themselves safe now and in the future.

Effective PSHCE education supports the teaching of behaviour for learning, our school value system, our school vision and contributes to the well-being, safety and achievement of all pupils in our school.

Relationship and Sex Education is taught within PSHCE and helps pupils to cope with the physical and emotional challenges of growing up, giving them an elementary understanding of human reproduction. The programme is presented within a moral framework, and promotes an individual’s responsibility to himself/herself and others.

Religious Education (RE)

Children gain a deep awareness of their own and others’ identities and seek to understand the mysteries of life and the answers given by a wide variety of religions and beliefs (including non religions).

They develop a clear sense of what is of real value in the world today and this enables them to respect others, show tolerance, develop an understanding of the wider issues surrounding beliefs and to celebrate diversity.
