Languages: Developing confident communicators
We strongly believe in the benefits of early language learning and so children in Years 1 to 6 receive weekly French lessons.
We aim to immerse the children in the French language in a way that is enjoyable and accessible to all. We want to help to create enthusiastic learners who develop positive attitudes to language learning throughout life. We guide and encourage our pupils to use their knowledge efficiently so they can become confident communicators. We open their minds and enhance their awareness of the multilingual and multicultural world surrounding them.
Our children take part in a cultural exchange progamme with a school based in Normandy through a pen pal system. This year the French children will visit our school in June o cement their friendships.
Language Clubs
We strive to deliver a wide and stimulating array of learning opportunities and experiences, and have recently held extremely popular Chinese and Japanese clubs. Children were given the opportunity to not only begin to learn the languages but to also become immersed in the cultures through a range of creative activities.
