Year Six Team

Mrs Michelle Marshallsay, Ms Joanne Wells, Mrs Rachel Burgin & Miss Harriet Trueman

Meerkats are taught by Mrs Michelle Marshallsay and Ms Joanne Wells, whilst the Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Rachel Burgin.

Ms Wells has been teaching since 1999 across a number of schools in Brighton and Hove and West Sussex.  This is her fourth year at West Blatchington Primary and Nursery school and throughout that time, she has been a year 6  teacher and the Maths Leader, aiming to raise the profile and enjoyment of maths for all of our children.

Mrs Marshallsay became a member of the West Blatchington team in 2006 after she graduated from University.  Since then, she has spent much of her time teaching in upper Key Stage 2, working for several years as a Year 6 teacher.  Being the KS2 Literacy Leader, she has a passion for English and love to bring the subject alive, using engaging texts and creative approaches to teaching.

Mrs Burgin started working at West Blatchington Primary in 2003, first as an Individual Needs Assistant then as a Learning Support Assistant.  For the majority of her years at the school, she has been based in Year 6 which is her favourite year group.  Mrs Burgin enjoys the engaging topics that we cover and the preparation for the transition into secondary school. She prides herself with her strong relationships with the children and staff and using her creative talents in the classroom and around the whole school.  In her spare time she enjoys gardening, long walks with her dog and absolutely anything creative!

Miss Harriet Trueman works as an Individual Needs Assistant.
